Thomas J. (TJ) Johnson attended the NOSSCR Biannual Social Security Conference in South Miami Beach June 1-4, 2016. The conference is a four-day national event at which the national leading SSDI and SSI lawyers meet for continuing education and to conduct the business of NOSSCR (National Organization of Social Security Claimant Representatives).
NOSSCR is the premier organization for attorneys who specialize in and center their practices upon claimants rights before the Social Security Administration. Several Social Security Administration senior officials from Washington D.C., including Commissioner Carolyn W. Colvin and Chief Administrative Law Judge John R. Allen, spoke at the event. Mr. Johnson was the only South Dakota attorney attending.
NOSSCR was formed in 1979 with 100 attorneys and other advocates. The organization now has more than 4,000 members in all 50 states and Puerto Rico. There are three Sustaining Members of NOSSCR in South Dakota, including TJ Johnson and Renee Christensen. The NOSSCR mission is to encourage the best quality representation and advocacy on behalf of persons seeking SSDI and SSI benefits. Additionally, NOSSCR advocates for improvements in the disability determination and adjudication process with frequent testimony before Congressional committees.
